Morning Jaunt

Log Item: I know what you're going to say. "Why aren't you and your friends working instead of riding Ducatis over winding roads on a Monday morning?" It's a fair statement. And in addition to that one line up picture I took, the Diavel didn't make it into the frame. But it made it on the run.

I've been doing a lot of solo riding lately, and the weather in SoCal has been perfect for riding with highs in the mid-80's. The drought has ended, the hills are greening nicely before the brutal summer sun dries them in that endless cycle.

A friend of mine just returned from Afghanistan and he's headed for a week at Big Bear Lake (Near Los Angeles in the mountains). I am contemplating a run up there for lunch or something, further compounding the myth that I'm a total lay-about and scooter tramp.

    1. I make do as best I can.

It's warm enough here now that I'm back to shorts except when I ride. I went out on an evening ride tonight and the temp had cooled from the high of 88 to 80 - perfect. I rode on a twisty back road for about an hour and then turned around and headed home as the stars began to appear and the sliver of a crescent moon.

  3. I had a 1979 750cc Triumph Bonneville when I lived in Huntington Beach. I drove it up and down Beach Blvd with nothing but a pair of sun glasses, a wife beater T-shirt, cut-offs and flip flops.

I wasn't exactly a pillar of the community back then (I was around 24). But a break in service sure felt good back in the day. I think my net worth was maybe $500 at the time (I took out a loan for the bike, bought it new).

  4. I'll be mountain biking in Utah soon. Plan to spend part of that adrenaline roller coaster pretending like I'm on a Ducati. (I have a big imagination.)
